Fundamentals exhibition

Little video from an interesting exhibition earlier this year at the Mu Gallery in Eindhoven, Holland. Fundamentals - legal and less legal ways of using the public playgrounds. Twelve artists, with origins in the graffiti scene, show public space work created for this exhibition. With works by Matthias Wermke/ Mischa Leinkauf, Erosie, Boris Tellegen, Olivier Kosta-Théfaine, Influenza, François Morel, Honet, Navid Nuur, BLU, Jeroen Jongeleen.

Banksy speaks

As recently reported here at ILG, the Banksy mural in central London is possibly up for removal. Now Banksy speaks about the mural here, and Times Magazine has a long article here about the whole case. Here at ILG we think its great that one single wall start stirr so much controversy, go Banksy!

Street Art Awards 08

Here is your chance to cast a vote for your favorite streetart from the past year and help determine the outcome of the Street Art Awards 2008. The site contains loads of streetart images and after all the voting is done there will be a big party in London on December 4th, 2008.

Melbourne politicians in denial

One of the coolest things I saw while visiting Melbourne last year was the flourishing streetart and colourfull graffiti burners found in the little lanes next to the big mainstreets all over the city. These lanes are also appreciated by loads of tourists, and openminded people in general, but there is now a big controversy in Australia after the lanes with graffiti where reproduced in a mini-version of the city at Disneyland in Florida. Local politicians are outraged because the reproduction was supported by tourist organisations and in the little secluded world of politicians, it brings blight on the city. Read more here.
